Did you know, that Germany consists of 16 federal states, each with its own capitol, parliament, and flag?
Since 1990, and the German unity, Germany has 16 federal states. In some of the 16 federal states, German is not the only spoken language. The following table shows the coat of arms of each state, name and capitol, year of joining, languages, and important dialects (that are not understandable when speaking German).

The GDP varies among the federal states. States that officially joined the Bundesrepublik Deutschland in 1949 have a higher GDP, than those that joined 1990. Those younger member states are called new federal states (“neue Bundesländer”). Focusing on international business, and exports, there is another huge difference among the federal states. Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria and Nordrhein-Westfalen together have an annual export worth 554,543 million (status 2016), what is more than the total amount of the remaining thirteen federal states (409,724 million). The goods from the three strongest federal states, focusing on export are cars and other vehicles, machines, and vehicle parts. The most important trading partners are France (for BW), USA (for BY), and China (for NW).
